In the year 1964 Government Grant was sanctioned to set up Government Sponsored Junior Technical School (JTS) at Subhasnagar, Bengai, in Arambagh Sub- Division, Dist- Hooghly on the pattern laid down by the Government of India in the Ministry of Scientific Research and Cultural Affairs. The scheme was intended to divert boys of 14 plus from academic type of education in the secondary school to any which was specially designed to condition them for different productive occupation of a technical nature, while continuing their formal general education. The duration of the course was 03(three) years. Latter ITI course under Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) was introduced at this Junior Technical School. This Govt.
