SHIBPUR INDUSTRIAL TRAINING INSTITUTE was previously known as SHIBPUR JUNIOR POLYTECHNIC under the administrative control of B.E. College, Shibpur. It was established on 29th July 1950 within the campus of the then Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur. In the year 2003, it came under the financial control & jurisdiction of the Directorate of Industrial Training under Technical Education, Training & Skill Development Department, Government of West Bengal and renamed as SHIBPUR INDUSTRIAL TRAINING INSTITUTE. This institute is providing training among the youth of west Bengal on Fitter, Electrician, Turner, Machinist, Tool & Die Maker (Press Tools Jigs & Fixtures), Draughtsman (Mechanical) and Mechanic Motor Vehicle trades under Craftsman Training Scheme affiliated by the Directorate General of Training (DGT), GoI.
