Convergence Efforts With MSME

The first convergence meeting held between the TET&SD Department and the MSME&T Department held on 12th of March, 2021 where Mr.Anup Kumar Agarwal, IAS chaired the meeting in presence of Mr. Rajesh Pandey, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of MSME & Textiles (MSME&T). The objective of the meeting was to discuss the scope of convergence between TET&SD and Department MSM, Govt of West Bengal on different activities which may be explored for the benefit of the industries and the youth in the state. As a continuation of the above the DIT is taking forward the initiatives. Presently we are working with Leather, Apparel, Gems & Jewellery , Foundry and Plastic Sector. Leather and Apparel sector Industry owners shown interest for Industry Institute Partnership model. Plastic sector requested government to do the needful in collaborating with plastic industry machinery manufacturers in order to generate more workforce requirement of the said industries in terms of installation, servicing as well as Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) etc. Joint Chairman FCDA informed regarding the modern training facilities the Howrah Foundry Cluster has created in Foundry Park, Howrah and also shown interest to get associated with Institutes for generating foundry and foundry lab technician where they are ready to take eligible trainees from ITIs. At ground level ITIs and DICs are working to make the convergence fruitful.
